Sometimes life gets away with me and I don't get to post - which is what happened in this case. But I'm back....with a nice surprise...an alla prima oil painting of Sunset over the Bosque. Those who live in Albuquerque are familiar with the cottonwoods that line the Rio Grande river and which make up the bosque. It's an interesting place. I took a photograph about 2 years ago when I was out with my daughter and son-in-law walking along the river. When we got over the bridge, I took a photo. I decided to try painting it and I'm so glad I did. Enjoy!

Life is a Cherry
Here is a photo of the second glaze of my "Cherries" still life. I like the completely white backdrop, although I still have some shadowing and draping to accomplish. And then there's that raspberry....I'm not happy with that one. But there are more glazes to put on, so stay tuned for further updates...

Two Pears
I'm currently working on three oils, one of which is the Two Pears. This still life has three glazes on it. It's finally beginning to look like it is "supposed" to look. Glazing oils with walnut alkyd is very rewarding because it dries so quickly that I can paint each evening! Enjoy!

December 18, 2014 - Lesson from Classical Drawing Atalier
Here is just a little lesson from the DVD of the book Classical Drawing Atalier by Juliette Aristedes. It's a great book -- and I certainly have a long way to go. This is just a little 15 minute drawing exercise I did on break on December 15. It was nice to begin to refresh what I little I know about sketching.
